Mjøsa Rundt yesterday

June 9th, 2008

Yesterday we did Mjøsa Rundt which is 225 kilometers around ... Mjøsa... the largest lake in Norway. We managed to do it almost at our target which was 5.59, we did it in 6.00.59. A hard day because it was temperature was already above 17 degrees Celsius at 08.00, and 27 degrees at 14.00 when we passed the finish line. I almost got cramps when we passed Moelv, but luckily it passed away.

I did by the way pass 3000 kilometers on my bike last week...

Max Manus - Det vil helst gå godt

June 3rd, 2008

My latest book is written by the Norwegian WW2 hero Max Manus. This is the story about the years before the war and from when the war started up to about 1943. He tells about his military career. As said here http://arkiv.poeten.no/default.aspx?pID=5&aID=80314 the book is not well written, apart from obvious typos the language is his own, written like he spoke. It is important to remember that the book was written just after the war, if that is not taken to consideration the book is ... not a good one.

I must admit that I did not get the feeling of reading the story of a great war hero. He was brave without no doubt, but sometimes thanks to the bootle of whiskey. And talking about whiskey, there are many stories from various bars in the book...

As I remember it, it must have been Svein Blindheim http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svein_Blindheim who said that the members of Company Linge agreed that they would not write their memoirs until after the treason trials where finished. Max Manus did not follow this agreement and wrote the book and published it without telling anyone else...why would I then ask?

And at the end, referring to Hans Petter

This weekend - Hafjell

June 1st, 2008

This weekend I joined "17-timer'n", the 17 hours team on their training weekend to Hafjell. We started yesterday at nine o'clock and headed up to Hafjell. From Minnesund we took of towards Feiring, Skreia and Gjøvik, following next weekeds track for "Mjøsa Rundt". Then at Lillehammer we turned up to Hafjell where we stayed at Quality Hotell. Today we took the other side of Mjøsa back home today, following the rest of the track for Mjøsa Rundt, and this off course applies for Styrkeprøven as well.

A very good weekend, a bit more than 400 kilometers all in all, about 15 hours on the bike with low pulse. That was good because it has been much training the past weeks. Next Sunday it is Mjøsa Rundt, 225 kilometers, the final test before Styrkeprøven. The weather forecast predicts very high tempratures, which can be a challenge.

Is soccer a top level sport?

May 30th, 2008

Is soccer a top level sport? For some that would be true, but all in all I would say that the answer is no, no, no! One of the top clubs in Norway, Lillestrøm has just fired their coach...or the official version is that he has resigned. According to VgTv the resason for this is that the team players are mentaly and fysicaly worn out because of hard training. WTF???

It just confirms what Tor Arne Hetland wrote http://www.sprintgutta.no/sak/000187.asp. I also recommend reading this article http://www.sprintgutta.no/sak/000192.asp which Espen notified me about a couple of weeks ago.

I'm convinced that I spend more time doing efficient traning right now than most of theese players do...

So - I would say: No!

The best hangover song

May 28th, 2008

Whenever I have a hangover http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hangover the best song to listen to if you ask me is Pink Floyd "Mother". Not sure how many days I have managed to crawl into the livingroom and put this song on just to crawl back to my bed again.

Just for the record, I do not have a hangover today !!

Vestfold Rundt yesterday

May 26th, 2008

Yesterday we participated in Vestfold Rundt, 165 kilometers around Vestfold county. By far my worst experience this year, hope it will stay that way :-) I guess the need for me to sleep on a towel due to pretty much sweat the night before had something to do with it, but never the less, I managed to keep up with the speed and passed the finish line with my team. Early warning sound mirrors

May 22nd, 2008

Was surfing around earlier today when I stumbled accross this guy planning his U.K holiday based on tips he got on his Wiki http://www.mentalkipple.com/myukholiday.
Someone had tiped him about going to see the early warning sound mirrors.

A forerunner of Radar, acoustic mirrors were built on the south and northeast coasts of England between about 1916 and the 1930s. The 'listening ears' were intended to provide early warning of incoming enemy aeroplanes and airships about to attack coastal towns. With the development of faster aircraft the sound mirrors became less useful, as an aircraft would be within sight by the time it had been located, and radar finally rendered the mirrors obsolete.

Read the above text and more and also see pictures at

Foreign accent syndrome

May 22nd, 2008

We where watching the Omid Djalili-show as usual this Thursday evening. He had a joke about a judge having a special problem, he had the "Foreign accent syndrome". Afterwards he told that it is actually a real syndrome. I looked it up on Wikipedia, read more about it there http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_accent_syndrome

To the untrained ear, those with the syndrome sound as though they speak their native languages with a foreign accent; for example, an American native speaker of English might sound as though they speak with a British accent...

Ever wanted to drive an escort car?

May 19th, 2008

My team needs 5 escort car drivers for Trondheim - Oslo on the 21'st of June. All expenses will be paid, you only need a drivers license and a day of form work - Friday the 20'th.
