What we read when eating breakfast

April 4th, 2008

Took this picture couple of days ago after first I, then Elin, had been eating breakfast. I read Aftenposten, and Elin read "100 dikt" (100 poems) by Haldis Moren Vesaas http://www.bokklubben.no/SamboWeb/produkt.do?produktId=2834026 Kinda funny...

Breakfast

But, ok, as you might have seen already, there is also a book there - Rocky by Martin Kellerman, which I read some days before that... check it out here http://www.rocky-digital.com/

Various pictures related to snow

April 4th, 2008

This easter we where at Vestreng, not being able to go skiing. People who knows me knew that and especially Elins cousin, Randi, where eager to send me pictures letting me know how nice conditions it was at their place. I did just do a clean up of all the pictures on my cell phone, and I've collected all the "look how much snow"-related pictures in this post.

Guitarhero

April 4th, 2008

Kent was in Oslo for two days earlier this week and we went to visit Simen. Simen had borrowed Guitar Hero from Are, and we had to try it. I'm very bad, Kent was better and Simen had blisters due to a lot of playing the past days.

PHP upgraded

April 1st, 2008

My domain is hosted by http://hostean.net, an ISP which I would really recommend. I realized that I needed a newer version of the Zend Optimzer to be able to upgrade to the latest version of my blog. So I sent an email to support, and after just one week they have moved my entire site to a new server running Zend Optimizer v2.6.2 without any problems at all.

So, if you need an ISP, I say again: I would really recommend Hostean...excellent service!

No Country For Old Men

March 30th, 2008

Tonight Elin and I went to the movies and watched the last movie made by the Cohen Brothers "No Country For Old Men" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Country_for_Old_Men_(film). Really worth while I must say!

Racine in concert

March 28th, 2008

Tonight Espen, Loy and I went to Elm Street to see Racine in concert. Does not ring a bell? What about Wendy James and Transvision Vamp? Not the most impressing music I must admit, but the whole package was fun, I guess about 40 people at Elm, 10 of the was working there, then almost 10 photographers, then the rest was the bunch

Their support band was Church of Confidence http://www.churchofconfidence.de, must admit that they rocked a whole lot more ...

Arvid Bryne - "Vi sloss for Norge"

March 24th, 2008

My latest book is written by Arvid Bryne - "Vi sloss for Norge", a book about Svein Blindheim Norwegian WW2 hero and Bjørn Østring also WW2 hero, but fighting for the wrong side. The book has been criticized for not digging enough into Østring and his past. In my opinion that is not important, what is important is the criticism of the trail after the war, who was judged and who was not. I've understood, and this book has just confirmed it, that the official history we learned in school is just one view, not necessarily containing the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

We learned in school that the D-Day was the turning point for the war, but I can't remember that we learned much about the Eastern Front. The fact is that the real turning point of WW2 was the battle of Stalingrad, which then again made the D-Day possible. Not that I agree with Stalin & co, but I wish we had learned more about the Eastern Front as well at school.

The coldest night

March 22nd, 2008

I heard on the radio today that last night was the first night this winter where The Norwegian Meteorological Institute measured at all measuring spots temperatures below zero.

Spring is here

March 18th, 2008

When walking home from the shop earlier today Elin pointed out that the Coltsfoot, or Tussilago Farfara, already have said hello to the world. The spring is early this year...

The small yellow dots are the flowers, the picture is taken with my cell phone and full zoom, so no good quality...
