Cleaning windows

There is one window in our house that has been a real pain to fully clean. We have double glass and needs to open them. And the middle window on the guest room is a hard one, since we need to lift it so that it gets horizontal, and then take it off the hinges. Impossible from inside and risky business using a ladder. But thanks to the 2018 drought I can drive the tractor on the lawn without leaving any traces, so using the multitool of them all – the front loader and pallet I had all the safety I needed to hold the window while Elin knocked it off the hinges. As seen on the picture, even washing the window requires more than two hands.

No more automatic posting to Facebook

Got the following notice from dlvr.it – which I use to post to my personal Facebook-page

Hello,

Facebook recently made a number of updates to their platform aimed at improving their ecosystem and reducing misuse and spam. One of these changes includes eliminating the ability for third party apps (such as dlvr.it), to post to personal Facebook Profiles.

Effective August 1st, you will no longer be able to post to personal Facebook Profiles via dlvr.it.

dlvr.it will continue to support posting to Facebook Pages and Groups.

This update is part of a broader change that Facebook is making to enhance platform experience and prevent misuse of personal accounts.

We’re optimistic these changes will ultimately benefit Facebook users, even if there is some near-term pain.

Heat protection 101

Not nice in any way, but it does the trick. Two days ago I tried using aluminium foil on the inside of the window…that was a great mistake, very, very hot. Then I taped the car flooring mats of textile on the outside as well. That made it better, but even if the second floor did not get that hot the window became incredibly hot, so I laid a chipboard on top ot that. But since that one was not mounted in any way it could easily blow away if the wind got strong. So now I have made this, not nice at all, protection out of some leftover wood paneling and parquet foam. I got the foam from my neighbour who has used it while painting motorcycle parts, so it is a bit dirty, but that does not matter. Now I have two layers of air, first between the glass and the paneling, and then between the paneling and the foam, so that should protect the window from becoming so hot and most important of all: The second floor won’t be all that hot in the evening when we are going to bed. Apart from this, our house cope with the heat pretty good since it is an old timber house from 1850. Cold in the summer, warm in the winter. (And yes, I know that I need to paint the gable boards, but in this heat: No way!!)

And just in time, tomorrow will be the warmest day so far this year. Hoping that the rain will come as promised on Sunday, and hopefully the forecast will change back to rain on Saturday as well.

The 2018 drought

Due to the severe drought we have had to find alternative ways of collecting food for our neighbors horses. So now we have borrowed the old chopper from the other neighbor and mounted it on the old MF 30.

First test just behind our house. A small meal for the horses, but everything counts these days

Västanå Theater and the Alma Löv Museum

Friday, together with Elin, Margit and Sveinung, we went to Sunne to see the theater Anna Svärd based on the book with the same name by Selma Lagerlöf. On Satyrday we then went to The Alma Löv Museum (of unexpexted art). Both events was a totally new experience for me..

Elin at the entrance of the museum

Outside, with several installations.

This one I could relate to, the Massey Fergusson-logo.

…and yes, it was hot, all the time…
