Flooding at home

Yesterday we had really heavy rain, so Anders and I spent some time driving around looking at the amount of water flooding down the streams.

Down by our neighbour, a small stream, now a river.

And the road to Bjørkvoll. After we have had the timber operation this winter, and then had a digger cleaning up afterwards the water runs without any obstacles – thus more water coming at greater speed towards the road, causing the big flood, even over the road.

Removing a tree stumb

Had to remove an old tree stumb which had turned into an ants home. Spent 20 minutes of digging around it and also used the handsaw to cut some of the roots preparing for the big pull

All ready, the towing rope attached to the tractor

And voila, did actually go much easier than I had thought. Not a big hole either, good one.

Being He-Man

Trying to be He-Man, pretending to have the power of the universe. My tractor being Cringer, the fearless battle cat, helping me protect Castle Grayskull (our yard) against the evil forces of Skeletor (old garbage)

Travelling alone – pitstop in the mustache capital

Travelling alone by train to Mosjøen today, going to pick up my two oldest boys, they have been on vacation for almost a week now. Pitstop in Trondheim, the mustache capital. This time, instead of eating at Burger King I went for Indian food, strong off course. And to drink I picked the most expensive beer I’ve ever tasted (as I remember), 0,6 l for 129,- NOK, but…it was good!

Weed tending

A weed is a plant that is not only in the wrong place, but intends to stay. — Sara Stein.

Weed tending a couple of weeks ago, removing a lot of dooryard docks and spear thistles. When having the proper gloves it is quite easy to get rid of the thistles, just pulling them straight up.

And note, weed as in Norwegian “ugress”, not weed as in weed meaning cannabis 🙂
