Blackwater

Are you aware of that much of the force in Iraq are private contractors, from companys like Blackwater http://www.blackwaterusa.com

Stated from Blackwaters own webpage, their advantage is

We continually prove to be faster, better, cheaper, and more efficient and effective than conventionally managed forces

Why’s that, one of the reasons is that they are not under international laws of warfare and the Geneva convetion, meaning they are almost free to do anything they want. And theese people are figthing for the free world…Bush, Rummsfeld, Miller – eat your heart out…

It’s difficult knowing what’s right and what’s wrong, but according to my understanding – using private contractors is questionable…

Guantánamo Bay detainment camp

Saw a program on SVT2 this evening where they tried to find out more about Guantánamo Bay detainment camp. Who has decided what and why, and have methods tested at Guantánamo Bay been transfered to prisons in Iraq? After I’ve seen that program I did some searches on the Internet, and I found this on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guantanamo_Bay_detainment_camp with the following good news

The camp has drawn strong criticism both in the U.S. and world-wide for its detainment of prisoners without trial, and allegations of torture. The detainees held by the United States were classified as “enemy combatants”. The U.S. administration had claimed that they were not entitled to the protections of the Geneva Convention, but the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against this interpretation on June 19, 2006. Following this, on July 7, 2006 the Department of Defense issued an internal memo stating that prisoners will in the future be entitled to protection under the Geneva Conventions
