I have been participating in “Hurdalsjøen Rundt” today, a 65km (70 according to my computer) race around Hurdalsjøen. I was very happy when crossing the finishing line, I made it in less than 2 hours and with an average speed of 35 km/h. That includes 5 kilometers of steep up hill in the mid of the race.

A decade down the road, when most of the original Seattle grunge bands had fallen prey to either mortality, acrimony, or changing public tastes, Pearl Jam still stood tall above the well-settled, flannel-flecked dust. The best of these, like this 2003 disc, demonstrate the group’s continuing vitality. From early grunge-era anthems such as “Evenflow” and the survivors’ anthem “Alive” to the death-rock cover “Last Kiss” and the melodic, contemplative “Betterman,” the full breadth of the band’s vision is shown. As befits a band that Neil Young once used as a backing outfit, they know how to jam without veering into self-indulgence–a good thing, considering how many concert recordings were already floating around by the time of this double-disc release.

For the first time in years, meaning 1 and a half year, since I stopped running due to my legs complaning after 5 marathons in one year I’m now finally below 80 kg again. Have been cruising just above, but now, due to my new bike, I have lost weight 🙂
But, I guess you have to have a trained eye to notice it, but in my head it makes a big difference
It is about 29 degrees celsius today here in Oslo. We have spent the weekend at Vestreng, yesterday me and Espen helped with preparing the fence for the herd which will arrive in a few days. Today I had planned to ride my bike for about 150 kilometres, but I resigned, it is to hot. Two weeks ago we had to do some work, renewing the panel on our house. Me and Nicola, the neighbor downstairs where adrenalin junkies and used the lift. I also invited my friend Ole Terje, but he refused, instead he wanted me to come and help him later this summer with the same at his house. Afraid of heights, he….you must be kidding me 🙂
Anyhow, we talked about starting as carpenters since we felt we managed so good … me, a handy hunk, not afraid of heights…should have seen me two days before when we had no lift, just the ladder…it slipped when I was all the way up. Just 5 cm luckily, but enough to make me quit and ask our painter to borrow the ladder.
