I heard on the radio today that last night was the first night this winter where The Norwegian Meteorological Institute measured at all measuring spots temperatures below zero.

Spring is here
When walking home from the shop earlier today Elin pointed out that the Coltsfoot, or Tussilago Farfara, already have said hello to the world. The spring is early this year…
The small yellow dots are the flowers, the picture is taken with my cell phone and full zoom, so no good quality…

My bike ride on Saturday
I took out my MTB on Saturday for this years second ride. The weather was nice and I wanted to see places I’ve never seen before, so first I took a quick stop at Simen to say hello before I went to Ulvøya, Ormøya and Malmøya. I must say I was really impressed, it is very, very nice on all three islands.

The first picture is taken on the outside of Malmøya, Maløykalven on the right hand side. The second one on the same place, but towards Oslo, and the last one shows approximately the route I followed.

Styrkeprøven – Den lange veien hjem
My latest book “Styrkeprøven – Den lange veien hjem”, a book about Den Store Styrkeprøven (The Great Trial of Strength) which is a bike race from Trondheim to Oslo 540 kilometers long. As I know, the worlds longest bike race in a single stage. Aksel Selmer decided to write about a book about his experiences and teamed up with Steffen Kjærgaard. Kjærgaard being former team mate with Lance Armstrong!
A must read for people like me, preparing for DSSP for the first time…

It’s hard to be a nissemann
Yesterday a guy from the Netherlands on his way home from Helsingfors (Helsinki) to Amsterdam refused to board the plane because he had seen 5 men from Iraq acting suspicious. What had they done? Two of the three men had handed their bags to the three others, then they had gone to the lavatory. Scaaaaarrrryyyyy!
I must say that I’m feeling lucky not having the color of my skin that does not allow me to go to the lavatory without being accused for being a potential terrorist. In fact, I guess I do not realize how lucky I am…

Action in our neighbourhood
A 83 year old man tried to escape from the police earlier today, and after crashing into a police car he ended up crashing into a house. 83 years old!!! How strange is that?? And it all happened just a few blocks away from where we live…

Best tv moment ever at home
Yesterday we went out to eat at Mother India, then we stopped by Skedsmo’s at Bislett before we went home at about midnight. When at home I turned on the television and we started watching a show called something like “Top Grammy Performances”. The list had 25 performances, all from Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin singing opera and on second place it was Celin Dion with the Titanic theme song. When they had counted down to second place I guess the time was about 01.30, and Elin was very tired, but she wanted to know who was on first place so she managed. And then…they revealed who won: Green Day with their American Idiot performance. I rolled on the floor laughing, because Green Day is clearly on of top five bands to hate according to Elin, and especially the song American Idiot. She was furious, having stayed up so long, just to get to hear them…
Some of the other performances are listed here http://hubpages.com/hub/Grammy-Performances, Eminem and Elton John and the performance by Eric Clapton singing Tears in Heaven dedicated to his son. So you might understand why we where a bit surprised that Green Day won, not that it did matter to me, I like them, but Elin…need not say more 🙂

A man gotta believe in something…I believe I have another beer
We have bought a new camera
Today I went down to Fotovideo and bought a new camera, a Canon 400D. Together with the camera I also bought a EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=152&modelid=7307 The pictures I can take with that lens are unbelievable compared to my old compact camera. I first thought of buying a blitz, but I’m very pleased with the advice from the guy at the shop that convinced me to buy the lens instead.
