Not meant to happen

Today I wanted to go from Mosjøen, via Herringen over the mountain to Tuven and Bleikvasslia. Down to Korgen, and then over Korgfjellet, to Elsfjorden and back to Mosjøen. I started out in very nice weather with my mountain bike, two bottles of lemonade and some peanuts.

This is the planned route, where the very bad pink line shows the route where it is road, both tarmac and gravel. Then the red dotted line connecting the pink line indicates that this is a path and even “notrack”, in fact most of the red line indicates just an old route used many years ago between Vefsn and Bleikvasslia. The path is long gone, and I could not find any track.

After having missed the actual track several times, having to cross the river with my bike, walking in long gras, being stiched by mosquitos, wasps and such I turned back home after three hours. Not being all sure about where to go, and realzing that I would spend at least another five hours, I went back the same way. Managed to cut down the time with almost an hour when going back. When at home I notiched that I had lost my bike computer and one of the bottles (the full one, leaving me with no water the last hour). At one time right before I decided to go home I fell, at the same time turning the bar which made me hit the end of it with my chest. That was for sure not good at all, in fact I’m curretly not able to lift my son Anders without feeling pain. I must admit I was immediatly a bit scared, so I laid down for about a minute.

Various pictures from the ride up to Almdalshola and Stillvassdalen.

No track at all, but I managed to find it on the other side of the river.

A bit further up, facing down the river. I pushed my bike on the track here, did not want to stumble and fall down towards the river. But it was only about 3-400 meters which I needed to walk up to Almdalshola. The rest of the path was “bikeable”

I walked over here, about three-four meters down to the river, and I was not even sure if the brigde would carry me 🙂

The cabin at Almdalshola, very nice.

From here, no track. I went all the way up before I turned and headed back home.

I won’t try this again with my bike, but I would consider going to Almdalshola several times with my bike. Without rain for a couple of days the singletrack is quite fun.

Taking the tractor for a ride

Here we have two pictures of Loy driving a tractor for the first time in his life. Under the superb guidenance by me he managed to drive it for about 200 meters and park it by the barn. Next time when visiting we must teach him to go in reverse with the trailer mounted as well.

Later I polished the car to my uncle with the help of Loy.

And afterwards we took our time of enjoying a cold beer and talking to Kent on the phone. He was in Sweden with his family.

Bikeride from Mosjøen to Sund

I have brought my MTB with me on the vacation, so last Thursday I spent tree hours riding it from my mother to my grandmother at Sund. About 80 kilometres in rain, but the weather was nice and warm so not big deal. The first part from Mosjøen to Korgfjellet is bad, because of bad road and heavy traffic. It was a relief to avoid the tunnel and ride over Korgfjellet.

When I pasted Korgen I took the old road via the center. That also made me pass a part of the road where I for almost 15 years ago scared the living h%¤# out of my cousin Andre

I had way to much speed down this part of the road, started to break before the turn. Luckily the front wheels stopped on top of the hill after passing the small ditch and scaring the rasberrys.

Vacation is started

A week ago we started our vacation, leaving our appartment to my family who is attending Norway Cup. On the first day we drove from Oslo via Kongsvinger, Torsby, Mora to Østersund where we stayed at the very nice Hotel Gamla Teatren http://www.gamlateatern.se/. We did also hook up with my mother & CO. The next day we headed for Lierne, drove by Namskogan and ended up at Mosjøen.

We have seen several milion trees, thats for sure!

Elin realizing that östersund has the largest antique shop in Sweden, just to realize seconds later that our car is packed and we cannot bring even a small plate
