Super Spesial Rally Norway

Espen and I went to Bjerke Travbane today to see Petter and Henning Solberg, Sebastien Loeb, Mikko Hirvonen, Jari-Matti Latvala and all the other rally drivers do their first SS of Rally Norway 2009, the super spesial.

It was fun, we got to see Pål Anders Ullevålseter on his bike, the KTM car and a combined FMX and snowmobile show. Then finally what we came to see, the rally.

The Google translater

Have been using http://babelfish.altavista.com for several years now, but when all of a sudden it refused to translate a page without any good reasons (something to do with the parameters in the url I guess) I tried out http://translate.google.com/ instead. And, whow, it even translates to and from Norwegian.

Out walking today

All the three of us went out walking today, or to be all correct, Anders did not walk, we carried him in the baby backpack. Plenty to see today, at first I advised a guy who was stuck with his car so the traffic jam (two cars were waiting) broke up. Then we found a pile of snow that wasn’t just snow, but in fact a car. In fact, plenty of those today. When almost back home I saw this old man standing there trying to remove all the snow on and around his car. It turned out that he was just about to turn 90 (!!!) in a few days. That, and the fact that he had to use a wheel walker made me decide to help him out. Luckily he was not going to drive the car, he just wanted to remove the snow and just start it up. A man at his age driving around on these conditions would have been crazy!

Pretty much snow yesterday

A collage of my neighbours houses taken yesterday evening during the snow blizzard. Ok, maybe not a snow blizzard, but Oslo Airport Gardermoen was closed, the traffic was a mess, the tram, subway and the trains had major problems so it was pretty much chaos when we headed back home after having been to the 1 years birthday to Veslemøy.

Some of you might say that people in Oslo complains to much with the following argument “Where we live, a bit of snow is not a problem”. But just to give you an example, our road Haugerudhagan have not seen a plow truck the entire weekend, so driving here is now pretty hard to do. In fact, I have realized that if it isn’t a matter of life and death, our car won’t leave the garage. When you then add that some people doesn’t even have snow tyres, you can understand that even the easiest road might turn into the highway to hell.

Night on the town with the boys

Yesterday I was out with Kent, and Loy also joined us for a couple of hours. First Kent and I wanted to be crazy, so we decided to try out a restaurant that I had seen here the other day: “Sahara Beduin Restaurant“. Very ok restaurant, but we where not crazy at all, it was crowded. It has been mentioned in the newspapers with good reviews, guess that is the reason.

Afterwards we went to Last Train and had a couple of beers before Loy had to go home. Then Kent and I went to the cinema to see Jernanger.

New pair of Telemark boots

If you haven’t made the transition to plastic… now is the time. The T4 is an extremely lightweight boot designed to bridge the gap for leather boot enthusiasts – the gap between their trusted leather boots and the not-so-new paradigm of plastic. The T4 has a nice, soft flex, bending in both the toe and ankle producing a natural feel. Suitable for all kinds of backcountry travel, the T4 is equipped with easy to use aluminium buckles, an ergonomic liner, and the Scarpa/Skywalk® Telesystem sole. Ideal for those who want to break into tele… without going broke in the process.

Bought them at Finn.no for only 900,-. Need an alternative to my T1 Freeride during the easter when spending more time walking up than skiing down. The T1 has given me plenty of blisters as well, hope to avoid them now..
