Monty Python’s Holy (gr)ail

Had to try it out. Opened the bottle and had a taste, did not enjoy it, but must admit that after a while it tasted better. Maybe it is like wine, it need to “rest” before drinking…
Bought it at ICA Linderud Senter, seen it elsewhere. Read about the aile here http://www.blacksheepbrewery.com/beers/holy_grail_bottled_beer/

Hard work outside

Me and my oldest son Anders helped spring yesterday. The Department of Transport will be doing their annually cleaning of the streets already on the 12’th of April, so we need to get rid of the snow in order to rake the lawn. Much sand and such after a long winter, and in order to do that we need the lawn to dry as much as possible. Therefore trying to spread out the snow yesterday, and when finished my son said to me “It’s hard, working outside daddy…”

Swan and “Den Rustne Eike”

Not a very good picture, anyhow: Last Sunday I had to go out to Fornebu to empty my locker, so I jumped on my bike and headed for Fornebu. Passing Skøyen, both ways, I had to pass a swan standing on one foot on the side of the pathway.

Did not want to stop to get a better picture, video showing why.

Then another bicycle related issue. Yesterday I had to go to “Den Rustne Eike” (The Rusty Spoke) to get a new tyre for Elins kombisykkel. Turns out that 24 inches it not just 24 inches, it is a jungle out there. So XXL could not help me, they had only 24 1.75, and I needed 24 1/2, and it even turned out that among the three different types of 24 1/2, it was the 543mm one I needed. All this knowledge thanks to Einar Støp-Bowitz, a living encyclopedia when it comes to Norwegian bicycles – you can read more in this article.

Took some (really bad) pictures of how to find the bicycle garage. When entering the “inner room”, it was like being part in a Harry Potter-movie or such. See the picture found in the article mentioned above, you can imagine.

Banana cake and the Waffle day

Yesterday Elin had her birthday and I made a banana cake. Got thumbs up by my parents-in-law, even Elin who initially said that she did not like banana cake enjoyed it.

And today on the 25’th of March it is the Waffle day here in Norway (and many other countries as well) – read more about waffles at Wikipedia, much I did not know. I have celebrated the day making oat waffles. Elin is skeptic, but she have not tasted them yet.

Hansa Pilsner Lite – Best in test

Yesterday Elin bought two Hansa Pilsner Lite

…beer along with spicy homemade tomato soup, a perfect combination. And according to the webpage klikk.no/helse/dinkost/tester/ the beer won best in test…competing against other lite beers (should have known). Nothing about taste mentioned, just “not much alcohol, less calories” and such.

I would summarize my rating with a link to the song “It’s no good” by Depeche Mode. Why fool yourself, either stay away from beer or drink the real stuff. Have never enjoyed Hansa anyway. And neither have Hamar Arbeiderblad

Upgraded blog to B2Evolution 4.0.5

Yet another successful and easy upgrade, now running 4.0.5 of B2Evolution. Had to spend some time uploading the files to the server due to very limited bandwidth this evening, but apart from that, no problems. Also used WinScp to move the media-folder on the server before upgrade and then move it back, in that way I could delete files and upload a fresh copy afterwards.

Tearing down the old grain drier

This weekend Lars Tormod and I teared down the old grain drier at Vestreng. We had planned to go and fetch firewood, but due to all the snow which is icy on the top and more like sugar underneath we where forced to do something else. We will wait until the snow is gone and then do another try.

I’ve plowed away the snow so we can get the firewood we made last year.

Found an old ski jumping helmet belonging to my father-in-law

Lars Tormod started working

My oldest son Anders and my father-in-law Anders checking the progress

Almost finished

All down, not we just have to hand it over to the scrap yard.
