The never ending story – renovation of the outbuilding

And yet another update, all pictures from last month. All cleaned up, ready to start with the retaining

Having put down the styrofam that goes under the concrete base

Elin is painting, the front loader is the ultimate tool.

Still more painting

The concrete base is ready, easy one

Started doing the formwork, this bit is tricky. The bridge ready for the wheelbarrow.

Formwork ready, looks a bit chaotic.

All ready, sand in the front loader bucket, crushed rock next to it together with the cement bags and finally the cement mixer.

The casting is done, best of all, the formwork did not break, a small thanks to my engineering but most of all luck.

Elin painting some more. and we have started to level the lawn in front.

Things to do when in Wiesbaden

Currently in Wiesbaden performing an IBM support review, a service they offer to help ensure successful usage of the software we have bought from them. While here I get to have a look around as well. First picture is actually not from Wiesbaden, it s from the airport in Frankfurt. For my neighbor I had to take a picture of the BMW i8

Yesterday afternoon before going out to eat dinner I had time for a quick run in the Kurpark

The Kurpark Wiesbaden, which begins immediately behind the Kurhaus (convention and event centre), was designed in 1852 in the style of an English landscape garden. The garden’s foliage includes magnolias, azaleas, rhododendrons and swamp cypresses….

Then we went to the Ratskeller Wiesbaden to have dinner, or to be more specific – to try various German beer. I had both the Bergbock Hell and the Doppelbock Dunkel.

This is the Doppelbock, did enjoy that one the most.

The never ending story – renovation of the outbuilding

Couple of pictures from this month. On the 10’th Roy helped me out leveling the floor.

Then I had to remove the root from the birch tree.

Then a day off, helping my inlaws, throwing down the old tiles from the roof.

Then a long period with heavy rain causing a complete halt, but finally on the 20’th we could start again.

And then today I finally had time to mount the plastic sheets on to the concrete and start laying the drainage

Raggmunk in Töckfors

Had to try it out when in Töckfors yesterday – good one!!

The Swedish version of unbound potato pancakes is called rårakor.[4] When prepared with a batter of wheat flour, milk, egg, and shredded potatoes and fried like thin pancakes, they are called raggmunk, the word “ragg” means crispy and “munk” derives from the Swedish “munkpanna”, which is literally translated as donutpan.[5] Both kinds are enjoyed with fried pork and lingonberry jam.
