Heavy duty garden tending

Had to cut down the spruce hedge and this year not just a little bit. Did first try to use the tractor and the front loader, but it did not reach high enough, so down to Løken and rent a boom lift.

Not the best picture, but look closly and you will be able to see how much I did cut

5 days trip to Vestlandet

Last Wednesday we packed the car and headed for Vestlandet to visit family. First stop was at Norwegian Railway Museum where all of us had a lot of fun and we would really recommend for others to stop there as well.

Then we stopped for the night at Fossheim Hotell, where I enjoyed a bottle of “Heidrun – eit Fossheimøl”

Then the day after, on the ferry from Eidsdal to Linge.

Yesterday we headed home again, this time staying at Beitostølen. So what better than to stop at Lemonsjøen to stretch the legs.

This morning from the hotell window.

Running up to Slogen and down again, and the aftermath

Four days ago I headed out from Liasætra, heading for Patchelhytta, Slogen and then Øye. The weather was nice and so was the run/walk up to the top of Slogen. Took some pictures at the top, here towards Norangsdalen

And here Norangsfjorden

And then, 1 hour and 30 minutes from 1564 meters down to the sea at Øye. Had to be as fast as possible to be there on time and I did, but it came with a price. My thighs did hurt as h$#, and even now – four days after – I am having issues walking normally. My thighs are still very, very sore, actually I think this is the worst time ever when it comes to soreness…but, it was worth it and I will do it again…but on another top.

Reforestation

Earlier this year we bought about 50 spruce plants, so hopefully in a couple of years we have a lot of Christmas trees available. Back in May my father and I did prepare the location, had to cut down a lot of Sambucus Racemosa (Rødhyll), a plant which is actually blacklisted here in Norway. A real pain in the ass, it grows very fast and forces away other species which naturally belongs here. A lot of work collecting all the branches.

When done, time to plant the spruces. I did this on the 16´th of May

And this picture was taken yesterday, a lot of fresh Rødhyll. The fight continues to ensure good conditions for the spruces.

Trip to Hærfangkjerka

Two days ago Espen and I decided to take an evening run to Hærfangkjerka. Read a lot about it http://www.norsknatur.no/boker/romerike/harfang.htm and seen plenty of pictures. I even have tried to find it myself, but back then I had to little time before it got dark, so I gave up. But this time of the year no problem. About half an hour running from Skjatvet http://www.skjatvet.no/, then 10 minutes of climbing on slippery rocks with moss, but finally there

Instead of climbing back down again, it is possible to find your way through the cave, but we did not try it out this time.

Nice view.

Been there, done that, most likely I will return with my kids, but have to wait until they get a lot older. To dangerous for small kids to go there.
