IBM Hursley in May

On the 14’th to 15’th of May I went to U.K and IBM Hursley for the IBM European Hursley Summit 2018. Work related, very useful – IBM Hursley is where you get most of your (work related) questions answered and the Hursley House is interesting as well for those interested in history, both IBM history and history as such. It even has it similarties to Downton Abbey for those who fancy such.

Since IBM has been present at Hursley for 60 years they have even cut the lawn showing the number 60 on it.

View from the window, classical 18th-century Queen Anne style.

From the museum.

Cake, celebrating 60 years.

Our rental car outside of Hursley House.

And we also had a bit of fun driving the rental car.

Running to Sweden

After a very short review of the map my conclusion was that running Flyktningeruta – the refugee route – from home to Sweden should take about 4 hours…a rough gestimate. I need to do better next time…I did spend almost 7 hours on the 46 kilometers from home to Sukkerveien just across the Swedish border. During that time I had stopped and asked for refill of water, the weather was nice and very warm, so all my water was long gone after just 20 kilometres. After about 4 hours I had a mental breakdown, but a quick stop eating chocolate and drinking Coca Cola was just what I needed to go all the way to where I had agreed that Elin should pick me up. Needless to say I went to bed early and stayed there to almost half past eleven today…

Here crossing the border to Sweden after about 6 hours and 30 minutes. Imagine me finding it hard, then think about those who was forced to do the walk in the shelter of darkness during WW2, maybe it was winter and they also had to carry as much as they could manage.

Read more about Flyktningeruta and find a map at the website to Directorate of Cultural Heritage

Backhoe loader maintenance

Last year I did replace the rubber gaskets for on the backhoe, then realized that the sylinder on one of the stabilizers had to be fixed. Got help from a friend who knows how to do such, the result was prima!

Mounted and ready for work

…but must admit that I already have realized that I need to replace the rubber gaskets on the other stabilizer as well.

Changing the drive belt on the flail mower

Me and my father pretty happy after having been able to fit the middle drive belt on the flail mower. The outer ones was pretty straight forward, those we could manage to fit together by hand, but the middle one was to heavy. So, we fitted it as much as we could by hand, then my father kept it in position using a long plank – safety always first – then I started the PTO. The tractor struggled a little bit, just to confirm that we would never have been able to do it by hand, and then…smack!! The belt fitted like a glove!!

Holmenkollstafetten and running home

Last Saturday I ran the 7’th leg of Holmenkollstafetten together with my colleagues from KLP IT.

When done I took the train to Fetsund and ran home from there. Finally got to see Bjønnehiet, the bears den. No bears, only a lot of signs.

The stats. I did expect it to be longer, if asking my legs, they hated it. No good!
