I…went…down to the river

Wed go down to the river
And into the river wed dive
Oh down to the river wed ride

Earlier today I had a meeting in Nydalen, and when walking back to the subway I noticed something out in the river, art? I don’t know, but I had to take a picture at least. I immediately had to call my friend Kent telling him that he should have been working in Nydalen as in the past. Then we could have had lunch out in the river.

Wipeout

Today Anders got to bed early, and Elin and I was just sitting in the living room doing nothing in particular when I just wanted to show her some funny clips I had seen on Youtube. I had seen the first episode of the American game show Wipeout http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wipeout_(2008_game_show). It ended up with us watching four entire episodes, it is hilarious. And now we are about to get the Norwegian version as well http://www.tvnorge.no/programportaler/wipeout/wipeout

I am certified

Today I took the test “Test 142: XML 1.1 and Related Technologies” which have the following test objectives http://www-03.ibm.com/certify/tests/obj142.shtml They should really do something with this test, all the other ones I’ve taken have made me able to say that I’m for instance “IBM Certified Portal Developer”, but this one…not possible.

Passed it with a score of 86%, quite happy with that considering the fact that only two days ago when doing the sample test from Prometric I only managed 63% (needed 61% to pass…)

Anyhow, happy to have passed it, found the XML-stuff quite hard since it is a whole new way of thinking compared to for instance my Java programming certifications. And also a huge set of new abbreviations to learn: XML, XSL, XSLT, JAXB, SAX, DOM, DOM2, XSLT-FO, XPATH and the list just keeps on. I prepared by taking the class “Introduction to XML and Related Technologies”, following the tutorials at W3Schools, using sample tests from both Actualtests and Prometric and finally creating a html-presentation of our cd collection by using XML and XSL. Hopefully I will finish it with a nice look and feel and publish it here on my webpage.

Audience at Golden Goal

Simen invited me to join him at the season premier of Golden Goal http://www.tv2underholdning.no/goldengoal/ today. So hopefully we will be able to see a glimpse of us in a day or two when they show it on tv. Want to know what happens, just ask and I can tell 🙂

From the Pyro newsletter

I received the weekly newsletter from Pyro today, and I spent 5 minutes reading it. At the end they have a collection of links, some related to music and some just plain crazy. One that caught my attention being in the last category, just plain crazy:

Miniature dachshund gnawed off owner’s toe while she slept
…Linda Floyd said her beloved Roscoe has since been put down because of safety concerns….

Band of brothers by Stephen E. Ambrose

My latest book is Band of brothers by Stephen E. Ambrose. This is the book which lead to the making of the famous tv-serie with the same name. All in all a very good book, as I’m able to judge referring to the events as they where, not as we want them to appear when writing “our” version. I now need to buy the DVD collection box and spend the winter watching the 10 episodes.
