Today, working a bit late at Tine, trying to get home by using the subway just to realize that I had to wait almost 25 minutes, because they start the half hour frequency already at half past seven. That sucks!!! Why should public transportation need to be run after economical principles? They are a corner stone of the society, the government should provide public transportation reguraly at any time, instead I had to take the crowded subway home….arrrghh

Blackwater
Are you aware of that much of the force in Iraq are private contractors, from companys like Blackwater http://www.blackwaterusa.com
Stated from Blackwaters own webpage, their advantage is
We continually prove to be faster, better, cheaper, and more efficient and effective than conventionally managed forces
Why’s that, one of the reasons is that they are not under international laws of warfare and the Geneva convetion, meaning they are almost free to do anything they want. And theese people are figthing for the free world…Bush, Rummsfeld, Miller – eat your heart out…
It’s difficult knowing what’s right and what’s wrong, but according to my understanding – using private contractors is questionable…
Guantánamo Bay detainment camp
Saw a program on SVT2 this evening where they tried to find out more about Guantánamo Bay detainment camp. Who has decided what and why, and have methods tested at Guantánamo Bay been transfered to prisons in Iraq? After I’ve seen that program I did some searches on the Internet, and I found this on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guantanamo_Bay_detainment_camp with the following good news
The camp has drawn strong criticism both in the U.S. and world-wide for its detainment of prisoners without trial, and allegations of torture. The detainees held by the United States were classified as “enemy combatants”. The U.S. administration had claimed that they were not entitled to the protections of the Geneva Convention, but the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against this interpretation on June 19, 2006. Following this, on July 7, 2006 the Department of Defense issued an internal memo stating that prisoners will in the future be entitled to protection under the Geneva Conventions
Rumsfeld, Bush, Miller and all you other, eat your heart out!! Read more in Norwegian here http://www.amnesty.no/web.nsf/pages/53F070D8BA511846C125719C00565330 This page also provide a link to the international Amnesty page with even more information.
The Movie: Neil Young: Heart of Gold
Today we went to see the movie “Neil Young: Heart of Gold” http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0473692/ It was really worth the time, a totally different way of spending an evening in the cinema. This is a recording of his concert at Ryman Auditorium http://www.nashville.com/music/ryman/ You get to spend almost to hours listening to his music, giving you a lot of time just to sit down and think, better than yoga, meditation and all this stuff if you ask me. Go Neil!
Hemnes i Krig 1940 -45
Just finished reading the book about the war in Hemnes municipal, that’s where I’m born. I found it very interesting, more than just a book about the acts of war, it covered the everyday life during the war. I would recommend it, even if you have no relations to Hemnes, Finneidfjord, Bjerka and Korgen other than reading my blog. More about the book, in Norwegian http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Cafe/8238/krig.htm
Near death experience
Yesterday evening, just before going to bed. Sitting on the toilet reading Aftenposten Aften and having the time of my life when I suddenly feel a slight tickling on my balls. I leap up shouting words not to be mentioned here. Elin, already in bed believed that I had applied to much pressure, making myself faint and fall of the toilet. Oh no not that, but I quickly realized what it was, it was a hawk moth in the toilet!!! It died fast!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawk_moth
I have donated money
I’ve donated money to the team behind B2Evolution, my blog. I think they deserve it! Not much, just 40€, but it’s my share to acknowledge their work!
45000 kilometres
After almost 4500 km just this summer, my car has now passed 45.000 km. The picture was taken at Setermoen, just outside Rema if you are a local. Had to expand my insurance as well because of this…
