Me and my oldest son Anders helped spring yesterday. The Department of Transport will be doing their annually cleaning of the streets already on the 12’th of April, so we need to get rid of the snow in order to rake the lawn. Much sand and such after a long winter, and in order to do that we need the lawn to dry as much as possible. Therefore trying to spread out the snow yesterday, and when finished my son said to me “It’s hard, working outside daddy…”

Swan and “Den Rustne Eike”
Not a very good picture, anyhow: Last Sunday I had to go out to Fornebu to empty my locker, so I jumped on my bike and headed for Fornebu. Passing Skøyen, both ways, I had to pass a swan standing on one foot on the side of the pathway.
Did not want to stop to get a better picture, video showing why.
Then another bicycle related issue. Yesterday I had to go to “Den Rustne Eike” (The Rusty Spoke) to get a new tyre for Elins kombisykkel. Turns out that 24 inches it not just 24 inches, it is a jungle out there. So XXL could not help me, they had only 24 1.75, and I needed 24 1/2, and it even turned out that among the three different types of 24 1/2, it was the 543mm one I needed. All this knowledge thanks to Einar Støp-Bowitz, a living encyclopedia when it comes to Norwegian bicycles – you can read more in this article.
Took some (really bad) pictures of how to find the bicycle garage. When entering the “inner room”, it was like being part in a Harry Potter-movie or such. See the picture found in the article mentioned above, you can imagine.
The King of Kong
After a tip from Atle I bought “The King of Kong“. If you found “The Story of Anvil” worth watching, you will really enjoy The King of Kong. How can someone put so much effort into video games is beyond belief is you ask me. Some disputed facts of course when it comes to how the movie presents the story, but hey…you don’t ruin a good story with facts.
…but, now there is a new record set http://www.twingalaxies.com/index.aspx?c=22&pi=2&gi=3852&vi=22
[video:youtube:xMJZ-_bJKdI]New crank mounted on my commuter
Two days ago when biking from Ullevål back home, just about 400 meters from Spinn at Storo my bike broke down. The crank gear had a massive breakdown. As the picture shows, on the left just after the break down, the pedal is way to much to the left. Compare it with the picture to the right where the new crank is mounted it has a lot more space between the pedal and the frame. It started making noises on my way to Ullevål, and when I had to take a quick ride to work I was afraid that something would break down when at high speed. So I went slow and did not stand up at all, afraid that it would break down and make me fly over the handle bars. When the total breakdown was a fact it was not possible at all to use it, I had to walk the last bit. The original plan was to buy a new crank and fix it myself when at home, but no I did not bother. Luckily Pål Andre was present, so I was allowed to hand them the bike the very same day. That was on Monday, on Tuesday they where finished with it, but I was not able to pick it up before today. Now running smooth!!

Russ – I’m getting old
I’ve marked the map where I live and where the Russ have their party right now at Tryvann. By car that is 22 km, but still I have no problems hearing the music they are playing. And if I go out to the balcony I am able to hear what song it is. The reason for this is that they are using the same equipment as they use on the orange stage at Roskilde. They might do whatever they want to, but when it annoys me, 20 kilometers away from them…it pisses me of and makes me realize that I’m a married man, with two kids and a station wagon…getting old that is…but, I do not hesitate to admit it…
Ships at the harbor today
On my way to work today I had to stop and take a picture of KNM «Fridtjof Nansen» and KNM «Helge Ingstad» down at the harbor.
There was also another ship just outside Aker Brygge. Had some trouble reading the name of the ship on the picture, so I had to do some investigation to figure it out. So, checking the Oslo Port Authority website. I managed to miss “todays calls” at once, so I found http://marinetraffic.com/ais Quite similar to http://www.flightradar24.com/. Marinetraffic showing vessel positions, you can view all types of vessels, from small fishing boats to big cargo vessels. Could not find the vessel, but back to Oslo Port Authority I found “todays calls” and there the name of the ship “Songa Winds“.
Bilia at Fornebu – that little extra
Had my car at Bilia at Fornebu yesterday for the 60.000 service. Everything according to our agreement, the service and some stuff I extra I had asked for, such as air conditioning anti-bacterial cleaning. They gave me a good explanation of what was done, I did pay (off course, it should have been a lot cheaper 🙂 ) and went out to find my car.
I had planned to wash it before leaving it there, but I did not get the time, but not to worry. Here is how my car looked when I found it at the parking lot…all nice and clean! They had washed it…that little extra!
