Pretty much snow yesterday

A collage of my neighbours houses taken yesterday evening during the snow blizzard. Ok, maybe not a snow blizzard, but Oslo Airport Gardermoen was closed, the traffic was a mess, the tram, subway and the trains had major problems so it was pretty much chaos when we headed back home after having been to the 1 years birthday to Veslemøy.

Some of you might say that people in Oslo complains to much with the following argument “Where we live, a bit of snow is not a problem”. But just to give you an example, our road Haugerudhagan have not seen a plow truck the entire weekend, so driving here is now pretty hard to do. In fact, I have realized that if it isn’t a matter of life and death, our car won’t leave the garage. When you then add that some people doesn’t even have snow tyres, you can understand that even the easiest road might turn into the highway to hell.

Night on the town with the boys

Yesterday I was out with Kent, and Loy also joined us for a couple of hours. First Kent and I wanted to be crazy, so we decided to try out a restaurant that I had seen here the other day: “Sahara Beduin Restaurant“. Very ok restaurant, but we where not crazy at all, it was crowded. It has been mentioned in the newspapers with good reviews, guess that is the reason.

Afterwards we went to Last Train and had a couple of beers before Loy had to go home. Then Kent and I went to the cinema to see Jernanger.

New pair of Telemark boots

If you haven’t made the transition to plastic… now is the time. The T4 is an extremely lightweight boot designed to bridge the gap for leather boot enthusiasts – the gap between their trusted leather boots and the not-so-new paradigm of plastic. The T4 has a nice, soft flex, bending in both the toe and ankle producing a natural feel. Suitable for all kinds of backcountry travel, the T4 is equipped with easy to use aluminium buckles, an ergonomic liner, and the Scarpa/Skywalk® Telesystem sole. Ideal for those who want to break into tele… without going broke in the process.

Bought them at Finn.no for only 900,-. Need an alternative to my T1 Freeride during the easter when spending more time walking up than skiing down. The T1 has given me plenty of blisters as well, hope to avoid them now..

I’m certified

I’m now allowed to call myself “IBM Certified System Administrator – WebSphere Application Server, Network Deployment V6.1”. I passed test 253 today with a score of 87%. A bit surprised when pressing finished and saw that the score was that high I must admit. This test was better than some of the other I’ve taken. As always I prepare using the Certfx tests, and this time the questions on the actual test was not a copy of the Certfx questions. The questions are closely related, but then again, they are supposed to prepare you for the test so they have to be, but as stated before – not a copy making the test a bit harder.

This is my fourth IBM certification in a year, adding two more if I count the instructor certifications and I’m planning on getting more.

Peer Gynt – Henrik Ibsen

My latest book “Peer Gynt” by Henrik Ibsen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peer_Gynt

Weeeeellll, I’ve read it, but jezzes it took some time to struggle through the 140 or so pages. A bit like Ulysses by James Joyce, which I gave up after 250 pages. I guess Peer Gynt would have ended up like that book if it had been longer…unfinished! But, an important part of Norwegian history, and now I know it by heart!

IPECAC – Getting to know you…

This is a promotion cd for IPECAC http://www.ipecac.com/. Got it when answering a contest about Mike Patton when listening to Pyro on PeTre http://nrk.no/p3/program/pyro/.

Mike Patton has two bands as I know of there, Fantômas and Peeping Tom. Kaada, a Norwegian artist is also signed there, and as faar as I know Maja Ratkje also. Elin have listened to Kaada, but Ratkje is way out both our league http://www.myspace.com/majaratkje

But, back to the cd. Peeping Tom is good, and there are also plenty of other good songs there as well!

Fifth Gear and Volvo C 30

Was watching an episode of Fifth Gear http://fifthgear.five.tv/ on Discovery Channel yesterday where they tested Volvo C30. They talked and they talked, but never once mentioned the similarity with the old P 1800 ES model. The rear window is without doubt closely related on those two models, so why they did not bother to mention that is beyond understanding for me. Better give me TopGear!
