New cellphone – Nokia 5500 Sport

My old 5140 have annoyed me quite much the past few week, turning itself of every once and then and leaving me with the need to take the battery out to unlock it, and then use the charger to switch it on. The use of the charger was needed because the on/off switch did not work after the phone had been in the washing machine last year.

So I bought a 5500 sport, wanted a phone with a bit more functionality than my old one. So have had it since Tuesday, and it has…guess what…turned itself of twice. By using the code *#0000# I’m able to check the OS version – currently V04.03. I will try to upgrade the os, hoping that will do the trick.

Anyhow, when I got it I looked for the auto lock, just to realize that it had no auto lock. I had to download it and install it as just another program. If you ever need it, do a search for AutoLock_v1.1_for_S60_3rd_ed.SISX. I have a fear that Symbian sucks bigtime!!!

King Leopold’s Ghost: – Adam Hochschild

King Leopold’s Ghost: a story of greed, terror, and heroism in Colonial Africa or “Kong Leopolds arv” in Norwegian, my latest book. Such stories we never did learn in school, but really should have. By reading this book you get a much better understanding of the story of Africa the past 100 years. I won’t try to retell it here, I would just recommend the book to you for sure!

ICE Your Cell Phone For Safety

Store your loved ones on your cell phone as ICE

ICE is the brainchild of British paramedic Bob Brotchie, who told The Early Show co-anchor Julie Chen Tuesday the idea came to him “just from reflecting on difficulties I’ve had in obtaining information about patients. The vast majority of people don’t carry emergency contact details or next-of-kin details, but the vast majority of people carry cell phones.

So now Elin is stored as “ICE, Elin” not meaning that she is ice cold or something like that 🙂

My vacation this year

…is about to end. About three weeks ago we started driving from Oslo, and the route has been like this

  • First day Oslo – Orkanger. Stopped at Jutulhogget http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jutulhogget_%28%C3%98sterdalen%29 and Tynset to see the worlds largest chair sledge http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tynset. We ended up at Orkanger staying at Bårdshaug Herregård http://www.baardshaug.com/
  • The next day we took the ferry accross Trondheimsfjorden, stopped at Austråttborgen http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austr%C3%A5ttborgen. We ended up at Norways Rock City Namsos, what a joke 🙂
  • The next day was all rainy when we drove from Namsos to Brønnøysund. We took our bikes and went to Torghatten http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torghatten, but due to bad weather we did not walk up the mountain.
  • The next day was sunny, and Kystriksveien was as beautiful as it can be http://www.rv17.no/ We waited for over an hour for the ferry to Tjøtta at Forvik http://www.norway.com/directories/d_company.asp?id=21667 The sun was shining and it was very beautiful there. I took my bike and went to see rock carvings. We also stopped by the russian cemetery at Tjøtta where over 7500 russian prisoners of war are burried. This due to security measures during the cold war, to prevent Russians traveling all over Northern Norway. Came home to my fathers place later that day at Nesna http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nesna where we stayed for a couple of days.

We later drove to my grandmothers place at Sund, nearby Hemnesberget http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemnesberget I helped my uncle wood chopping, thats my kinda vacation.

Then later of to Harstad to my cousin Andre’s wedding, where we also visited Trondenes Fort (Adolfkanonen) http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trondenes_fort After staying in Harstad for three days we went to Senja http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senja Senja is very beautiful, Norway in miniature.

Now it’s only a few days left before heading home and back to work…

Sneaker Pimps – Becoming X

Bought by chance at Play.com, listend to it at http://launch.yahoo.com Not as good as I hoped for, but on the other side, I’ve just listened to it once. But I won’t bring it with me on our vacation, so I guess it will gather dust for a month at least…

Good Night, And Good Luck

We rented George Clooneys movie “Good Night, And Good Luck” this evening http://wip.warnerbros.com/goodnightgoodluck I really would request anyone reading this to see this movie. It’s about journalist Edward R. Murrow and producer Fred Friendly and their work, which was one of the things that ended Joseph McCarthys “witch hunt” for communists. R.E.M – Reckoning

I now have 8 cd’s with R.E.M, kinda funny though, since I do not listen to them much theese days. But it costed only 20 kroner, so why bother not to??
