Testing my camera

Yesterday before going to bed I had to try out my camera and the fixed 50mm lens. Before reading further I must admit that I have not done what I planned to do at once when I bought the camera…reading the fu¤#¤2 manual. I know that I will be able to take much better pictures if I do so…I will do it as soon as I get downstairs 😉

Anyhow, here are two of the pictures I took, accompanied by the picture info cut’n pasted from Picasa.

The pictures are taken from the bedroom window at Valbogen towards Levang.

Trying to stay cool

Yesterday I was out with my bike, in fact together with my mum. She came all the way from Mosjøen to Nesna (via Levang) on her bike, so I came to meet her. Anyhow, afterwards I went to find Elin who was out with Anders. I found them and I followed them back to my fathers place. When there I wanted to show off, you can all see how that went on the picture below. Never do such things to close to a camera

…remember, if you get it on tape you can get it in cash!!!….

Svartedauen – Yngvar Ustvedt

Spent this week reading a book about the Black Death http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Death Very interesting book which first let you know how the people reacted on the plague back then, as we know it by the written material form back then. Then is let you know what the plague really was, and how they found the reason for the spreading, at least some of them, the plague was in fact spread by fleas, both human and rat fleas.

Malfunction

A bit of malfunction yesterday when out bike cycling. Was supposed to go on a ride with Petter, together with the rest of Rye, but take a closer look at the picture – my chain ring should be mounted on my bike, not be in my hand!!

King of Queens

My eyes are getting weary. My back is getting tight.
I’m sitting here in traffic on the Queensborough Bridge tonight.
But I don’t care ’cause all I want to do
Is cash my check and drive right home to you.

Cause Baby, all my life, I will be driving home to you.

“The Forgotten Soldier” – Guy Sajer

My latest book, The Forgotten Soldier written by Guy Sajer (a pseudonym). A really good book about the brutality of war. In fact so good that when I yesterday wanted to buy a new book I realized that I was tired of books about human beings and how we are not able to learn from the history, but instead keep doing bad things all the time. Anyhow, more details about the book is available here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Sajer and if you are at least a bit interested in the Second World War, buy it and read it.

First time running in two years

Today I struggled trying to decide what to do, go out with my MTB, or my racer bike, or lift weights, so after hours of trying to make a decision I ended up running. I have not done an hour of running in more than two years due to my injury after running 5 marathons in one year. My legs are feeling a bit sore, but nothing extraordinary taken in consideration that it is two years…

I ran around Lutvann, took me an hour…it’s good to be back! (Hopefully)

Raspberry supplies from up north

My mum came on a short visit yesterday, and from my grandma she brought a large supply of raspberry jam. As usual when grandmas does stuff involving food it is not just a small portion, so the picture shows Elin putting ten boxes of jam into our freezer. I tasted the jam this morning, it was delicious, so all honor to my grandma

Combine harvesting

This weekend both me and Lars Tormod tried the combine harvester for the first time at Vestreng. According to the Glende girls father we both need to plan for the future and learn the skills needed out on the country side. So there we where, doing time in the combine harvester for the first time on Saturday. So now I can put that on my resume as well

Combine harvesting

And just to mention it, the wheat I was harvesting at the time the picture is taken is off course timely fashioned since it is ecological wheat

Økologi

Update: According to my former colleague Kåre Christian I was not harvesting wheat http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheat but oat http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oat. Big difference…
