6 litres of fresh apple juice today

Today we made more than 6 litres of fresh apple juice, and Elin also made to apple cakes. Next weekend we will try another. Today we prepared the apples with the apple cutter, in that way the juice was a bit brighter and we did not get half as much “apple meat”-garbage. In fact, I had trouble keeping up with the speed of the machine, unlike ysterday when I had to push the apples down and you could really hear the machine working hard.

By the way, the commercial picture I used yesterday showing the machine with apples – it is a lie, the juice will never be as clear as the picture shows 🙂

Remember that an apple a day keeps the doctor away!

Today we bought a juice extractor

As the first picture shows, there is plenty of apples available out at Vestreng where Elins mother and father lives. And they have four other trees as well. The process is quite simple, you don’t even need to do anything with the apples, you don’t need to remove the seeds or anything. But after the first test today we will the next time use an apple slicer just like the one on the picture above. It is in fact faster than using the knife to get rid of the bad parts of the apple, and a very easy way to check if they are rotten inside.

As the third picture shows I made about 1.2 litres times two, and with very little effort. Tomorrow, who knows how much…and you can do even more if you want to – carrots, potatoes, the sky is the limit…but not bananas.

“D-Dagen, den allierte invasjonen i Normandie 1944” –

My latest book is about the allied invasion of Normandie and Europe in 1944. Well written by Michael Tamelander and Niklas Zetterling. I found the book very good since they do not in a way do not support any side, like books have done since the end of the war. Instead they try to explain why the allied was able to win thanks to the fact that they outnumbered the Germans and the fact that most of all Hitler did some very, very tactical stupidites (Thank God for that!). The book points out the weak sides of the Allied forces, things that I have not been aware of. It also points out why the German leadership was way better than the Allied leadership, when it comes to leadership out in the field. If you are interested in WW2, I will recommend the book for sure.

I got tickets to Hellacopters

Hellacopters are currently touring Europe on their farewell-tour after 15 years of playing rock’n roll. I’m doing my homework and listening to their concert from Hove earlier this year http://nrkp3.no/konserter/?klipp=382861 to be as prepared as possible before the concert. That, combined with a small amount of beer, and I expect that it will be one hell of a concert!! 🙂

We have bought a new car

Yesterday I went out to try to find some used cars which we could consider buying. Talked to Espen on the phone on my way who said that he would not be surprised if I ended up buying a car the same day. So as he said I did. So yesterday I signed the contract saying goodbye to my old Peugeot 206 SW, who has been a superb car – but unfortunately to small now, and saying hello to a Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI. Almost like this one dinside.no/php/art.php?id=29361, except that I bought a 2006 model.

Ok, I must admit according to this article http://www.dagbladet.no/dinside/2004/04/14/395763.html it is bad to buy a Ford
