TvNorge needs to be educated

Watching the news on TvNorge this evening. They were reporting about the incident at the Hamburg Airport where a plane almost had an accident when landing in strong wind. The reporter on TvNorge first described that the pilot did not have control of the plane just before entering the airstrip. She said that the plane flew sideway, like that was not something normal. It is common to do that, they adjust the plane sideways, how much depending on the strength of the wind, then just before touching the ground they straighten up along the strip. This actual incident almost went wrong after the plane had been aligned along the strip when wind grabs the plane and almost make the wing touch the ground.

Taking the lavatory for a ride

Out at Vestreng earlier today, I have cleaned up the ditch along the road in the back of the picture when I got some spare time. What to do I thought, and started tearing down the outside lavatory standing next to the old barn. So I took it for a ride, and by using the tractor placed it on top of the branches I had taken away from the ditch. Will make a great fire later sometime…

Smashing Pumpkins in concert

Got the ticket to the concert from my cousin Sigurd, he is kind to me 🙂 I know of S.P from their hits back in the -90’s, but I have no cd with them. That is sometimes a huge drawback when going to a concert, and this time was one of them. And when the band played mostly new songs, I think after 10+ songs I knew only two of them, I got tired and went back home. And I did not miss much according to Dagbladet http://www.dagbladet.no/kultur/2008/03/01/528452.html

My first bicycle ride

I’ve read reports that this winter is the warmest ever known, meaning the past 100 years since they did not keep records before that. I’m not shocked, today I mounted my newly repaired front wheel of my off road bike and with my 4 layers of clothes I went to Vestreng. Tested my new Sealskinz gloves http://www.sealskinz.com/ They where super, not at all cold on my hands. I’m wearing Sealskinz on my feets as well, a bit cold on my left foot, but no big issue. I can really recommend Sealskinz!

But – it was very, very good to get on the bike, I’m getting kinda tired of just sitting on the spinning bike I must say…

I’m certified

I’m now allowed to call myself “IBM Certified System Administrator – WebSphere Application Server, Network Deployment V6.1”. I passed test 253 today with a score of 87%. A bit surprised when pressing finished and saw that the score was that high I must admit. This test was better than some of the other I’ve taken. As always I prepare using the Certfx tests, and this time the questions on the actual test was not a copy of the Certfx questions. The questions are closely related, but then again, they are supposed to prepare you for the test so they have to be, but as stated before – not a copy making the test a bit harder.

This is my fourth IBM certification in a year, adding two more if I count the instructor certifications and I’m planning on getting more.

Peer Gynt – Henrik Ibsen

My latest book “Peer Gynt” by Henrik Ibsen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peer_Gynt

Weeeeellll, I’ve read it, but jezzes it took some time to struggle through the 140 or so pages. A bit like Ulysses by James Joyce, which I gave up after 250 pages. I guess Peer Gynt would have ended up like that book if it had been longer…unfinished! But, an important part of Norwegian history, and now I know it by heart!
