Pearl Jam – Live in Tokyo, March 3, 2003 (2 cd)

From Platekompaniet, says it all

Recorded live at the Budokan, Toyko, Japan, on March 3rd, 2003. A decade down the road, when most of the original Seattle grunge bands had fallen prey to either mortality, acrimony, or changing public tastes, Pearl Jam still stood tall above the well-settled, flannel-flecked dust. At the dawn of the 21st century, presumably in an effort to beat the bootleggers, the band starting releasing dozens of live albums. The best of these, like this 2003 disc, demonstrate the group’s continuing vitality. From early grunge-era anthems such as “Evenflow” and the survivors’ anthem “Alive” to the death-rock cover “Last Kiss” and the melodic, contemplative “Betterman,” the full breadth of the band’s vision is shown. As befits a band that Neil Young once used as a backing outfit, they know how to jam without veering into self-indulgence–a good thing, considering how many concert recordings were already floating around by the time of this double-disc release.

Bought it because of the song Yellow Ledbetter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_Ledbetter Pearl Jam, one of the best!

Samvirkelaget – Musikk

Needed to get rid of some cash πŸ™‚ And I do like both Gatas Parlament and Hopalong Knut, so why not try this cd which is a cooperation between the two bands.

Samvirkelaget

And, Hopalong is written with only one ‘p’, not two, thanks to their blog I have corrected myself πŸ™‚

But, on the other hand, this cd is important due to the song “Stopp Volden”

Yes!! Below 80 kg!

For the first time in years, meaning 1 and a half year, since I stopped running due to my legs complaning after 5 marathons in one year I’m now finally below 80 kg again. Have been cruising just above, but now, due to my new bike, I have lost weight πŸ™‚

But, I guess you have to have a trained eye to notice it, but in my head it makes a big difference

It’s hot – this years first swim

It is about 29 degrees celsius today here in Oslo. We have spent the weekend at Vestreng, yesterday me and Espen helped with preparing the fence for the herd which will arrive in a few days. Today I had planned to ride my bike for about 150 kilometres, but I resigned, it is to hot. So instead I did only 55, and half way I met Elin and her father and we went for a swim in Mjermen http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mjermen

Handy hunks in action

Two weeks ago we had to do some work, renewing the panel on our house. Me and Nicola, the neighbor downstairs where adrenalin junkies and used the lift. I also invited my friend Ole Terje, but he refused, instead he wanted me to come and help him later this summer with the same at his house. Afraid of heights, he….you must be kidding me πŸ™‚

Anyhow, we talked about starting as carpenters since we felt we managed so good … me, a handy hunk, not afraid of heights…should have seen me two days before when we had no lift, just the ladder…it slipped when I was all the way up. Just 5 cm luckily, but enough to make me quit and ask our painter to borrow the ladder.

Hotel Rwanda

Plenty of spare time in the evenings when in Gothenbourg, so I turned on the tv and there a movie started called Hotel Rwanda. I heard of the movie a few weeks ago when Paul Rusesabagina visited Norway. Of many great and brave people in the world he must on the bleeding top for sure. It makes you feel bad, but if any comfort at all, the same had happened in the outskirts of Europe just one-two years earlier. No comfort at all, why should it be like this…

They target the tutsi children Paul, to take out the next generation…

…How many acts of genocide should it be to call it genocide??…

Welcome to Sarajevo

In Gothenbourg teatching the WP610, when arriving at the hotel to drop off my computer I switched on the tv. Started watching a movie on TV1000 called Welcome to Sarajevo. Even if I’m hungry as hell I could not stop watching it. It is based on the war from 1992 to 1993 and it is really authentic in the way a movie are able to be authentic without being a documentary. You just realize how bad war is, and it makes me want to do stuff, but what are you able to do? Woody Harrelson as Flynn says one thing in the movie “I’m sorry for it being the Christians killing the Muslims an not the opposite, then maybe we would have gotten help here”. I’m not really in to the conflict on the Balkans, but I wonder how much of that might have been true? The movie uses some clips of John Major, George Bush sr. and other politicians saying much, but also nothing. But, then again, politics – not for me to understand. Anyhow, watch it…!
