Pittsburgh – The Penn brewery

After having been to the Church we went to the Penn brewery http://www.pennbrew.com/ to get something to eat. I had the Penn Weizen

Weiz

And then I had the Penn Pilsner, both beers very good! Both had a distinct taste of smoke…smoked…

Afterwards we went to this other place which I don’t remember the name of, but I had beer from Bell’s Brewery (in a Belhaven glass), it was called “Two hearted Ale” . Really tasty and good, find out more at http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/287/1093/

The Church Brew Works in Pittsburgh

I might consider joining this Church, The Church Brew Works. The altar is in fact a real brewery, and when we got there some senator was having his campaign there so we got free beer!! Where else in the world would you get that??? Free beer in a church. I guess even D.O.S would consider joining this church?

See it all here http://www.churchbrew.com/

This morning on my way to get some breakfast I took this picture showing the streets of Pittsburgh

Then, just a minute later this real American truck past me on the street

But one thing is certain, the Americans know their christmas threes!!!

Pictures from Pittsburgh

Currently in Pittsburgh attending a pilot course at IBM for WebSphere Portal 6.0 Development. Pittsburgh is nice, meaning – the part I have seen, being the view from my hotel room and the buildings between here and the IBM building. It is just a five minute walk, so as you might realize, I have not seen anything 🙂

I forgot my camera, so have me excused for not having pictures of better quality 🙂

Is it the end of the World?

I do belive that it is the end of the world as we know it. For the time being I’m in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The temprature here is as back home in Norway a lot warmer than what’s normal. Skiing, bye bye!!

Yesterday when flying over Detroit I realized that if I had been president in the U.S for a day I would have done three things

  1. Decided that in 15 years over 50% of all cars should run on what we today consider alternative fuel. Meaning electricity, hydrogen or similar.
  2. Decided that in 15 years all sources of light as we know them today should have been replaced with for instance led-lightsources. Did you know that about 80-90% of the energy consumed to light up the world is just waste in form of heat?
  3. From today, decide that all prices should include all taxes, service charges and that kind a shit. Today when eating breakfast: “it’s 11,95 sir”, meaning 12,50 or so including taxes and service charges…stupid!!!

What is happening to the climate in Norway? Read here (In Norwegian) http://met.no/aktuelt/nyhetsarkiv/2006/noracia.html Global Warming or not, it is getting warmer, and I don’t like it!! I also stumbled across this guy Sigbjørn Grønås http://www.forskning.no/personer/1017927465.33

Candle gone mad

Yesterday at Vestreng a candle went completely mad, mainly because someone had dropped a match in it when putting light to it. We all learned the consequences of that, a minute later the table cloth was on fire. So this christmas it’s quite easy to buy a gift for Elins mother…a new coffee table 🙂

Darik’s Boot and Nuke

Two weeks ago when I finished my job at Informatikk I wiped out the pc completely before turning it in. To do that I used “Darik’s Boot and Nuke” http://dban.sourceforge.net Just download the cd image, boot your pc from the cd and you are just a few keystrokes away from turning all the content in to the history.

But – does DBAN wipe your data away for good? No, read the FAQ “DBAN is ‘good enough’ for ‘most people’.” but people with enough time and money might be able to get hold of your content…

Marit Larsen – Under the Surface

Did plan to buy this record when it was released earlier this year, but I have been late. But here the other day after been listening to Marit at MySpace I had to buy it, since I just missed the subway and Platekompaniet was close by.
