Backhoe maintenance

Had to change the gaskets in two of many cylinders on the backhoe digger, since they where totally worn out causing it to leak huge amounts of oil.

Tried to loosen the nut at home, but instead of loosen it I would have ripped the vise of the table. So I had to go to Westreng Maskinforretning, they have the proper tooling, including a very long pipe which I needed to get enough momentum to loosen the nut.

An old pair of shoes and two new ones

My old pair of running shoes, the Mizuno Wave Hayate 2. According to this review http://runnerclick.com/mizuno-wave-hayate-2-review/ it has oustanding traction, but I disagree. A bit moist conditions and I do not trust the shoes at all, the conditions needs to be all dry and not a single rock or tree root for me to trust them. And the shoe sole has started to loosen from the shoe on one of them after what I consider pretty lightweight usage. So, no more Mizuno for me.

So yesterday I passed by the Sport1 outlet next to Oslo City and found two new pair of shoes which I do expect will perform way better. The Inov8 Artic Claw 300 – which is actually a winter running shoe with 16 spikes, but I will use them as terrain shoes in summer time as well. I expect them to have very good grip at all times, even in very wet conditions on rocks and tree roots. The other one, Asics Fuji Runnegade 2, does not have spikes but I also expect the grip to be way better than the Mizunos. Both shoes 700,- pr. pair, so a very good price as well.

So now I cannot complain about the shoes when in Sweden in 30 days – all ready for Icebug Challenge.

Wet car

No side windows, plastic fantastic, but not using waterproofed tape – risky

Seems like the car would be washed pretty well both on the outside and the inside

And off course a disclaimer: I was passing by on the bus, not able to help 🙂

Moving a container – redneck style

I was called in yesteday by my neighbour to help out two guys getting an old container on to a trailer. Turned out to be a bit more work than expected, but we had a lot of fun and several good laughs (and just ot mention it from the start, it all went well)

Can it be lifted? Yes it can!

The trailer is ready to be pushed underneath

Had to level the tractor

Time for a break

Phase 1 done – mounted on the trailer, now phase 2 – Pull it out. Good thing I have more than one tractor.

We needed to level the trailer as well

Testing it on the car. We did not actually believe it at first, but the container was in perfect balance, so we could actually lift it from the trailer hitch with no help at all.

Phase 3 – Securing the load

Phase 4 – Getting ready to go

Volvo equals tractor…

Safe is in the air

Last Sunday with the help of Erik and my father in law we moved the safe from the house we rent out. Lifted it out with the crane and on to the forks of the front loader. Luckily we could do it all by the use of machines and no need to lift it, did fear for our backs if we would have needed to do that.

Apple lemonade

The boys did pick the apples in our garden, then we slized them up together and made apple lemonade. Really good, but much effort for little result, maybe we should check the ripeness a bit better, hoping for more juicy apples in a week or so.

Nybakkrunden last Saturday

Last Saturday Espen and I attended Nybakkrunden. Here mounting the bikes at the back of the car, all ready to go.

And here after the race. Espen had an accident, another biker simply crashed into him and he got some wounds but nothing seriously. But still, when he was down I did pass him, it was just about 1k after start. After a minute or two he came up to me, we talked, and then he put some more energy to it and … he was gone leaving me with my pride hurt. So now its time to start being a bit more targeted traning. I spent 10 minutes more than 4 years ago, so not happy at all.
