Run to the hills for 13 hours

Yesterday me and my brother Jonas did “Rana Ti på Topp 2017“, all in one day. Departure from Nesna 06:00, back home sometime after 02:00, 21 hours later. 10 hiking destinations, 13 hours, 5000 meteres ascending, about 60 kilometres.

All hiking destinations (not including the “bonus” trip to Sauvatnet – we would have needed medical assistance if trying that as well)

#1 – View from Innerstøtta towards Svartisen

Summer…ice on top of Bomfjellet.

A lot of fog on the top, we missed the view which is supposed to be amazing.

Lunch at Røsvoll

Waterfall, Tverråga which ends up in Svartisdalen and the river Svartisåga.

Moose running away from me

View from Brunstadtinden, Røvassdalen and Langvatnet way way down there somewhere.

Reindeer at Rauvatnet, on the way to Rausandhaugen.

Mo i Rana from Mofjellet.

Mo i Rana from Hauknestinden

Very tired at Grotneshytta, destination #8, sometimes after 22:00

Mo i Rana from the trial to Grotneshytta.

Mo i Rana by night, midnight from the road to Storhaugen above Selfors.

Finally, last check-in at Idavollen 01:00, now heading down to the car and home!!

First bike ride last Tuesday – Elk(-s) at sunset

Had my first bike ride this year three days ago, nothing really special about that, just me not wanting to go bike riding when its cold…which makes no sense since it was only 3-4 degrees above celcius that day, but enough about that. What made the ride a bit special was the amount of wild life I saw during that long hour I was outside. One dog, which was a bit to curious and almost seemed to want to block me. And then three rabbits running scared in front of me (why run in front of me on the road, why not just go left or right and hide in the bushes?). And then a flock of mooses, not really sure 5 to 8 I think, it was a bit dark so it was hard to tell. Then later I meet the one on the picture, standing in the field next to the road and just as I was next to it, he decided to start to run slowly (but in the same pace as me). And after 100-150 meters out on the road and stopped in front of me. What seemed to be several minutes, but most likely was just 30 seconds, we had a staring battle before it decided to continue to run and then leave the road. A couple of minutes later the same happened again, but this time I was able to get by it so it could not block me.

Exploring Sund / Sundsmarka

Spent last Friday working from Sund, the place where I grew up just outside of Hemnesberget. After having spent several hours troubleshooting it was a relief that I finally could head out for a quick run. Still a lot of snow in the mountains so running to the hills was not really an option, but then I realized that I could not even remember having been to Sundsmarka ever, always a first time for everything. So first goal was Sundsfjellet, photo taken towards Hemnesberget with Sundsholmen in the middle.

And here at Memmerhaugan (never knew the name, but found it on the map) towards Prestenget, Ramnflåget and way behind Snøfjellet

Exploring Kulstadåsen / Mosjøen

Last Thursday after having spent 13 hours sitting on the train from Oslo to Mosjøen, and a couple of hours sleep I needed to go for a quick run. The weather was very good, actually still pretty hard snow which made it easy to run (should have had more time and a pair of skis…).

Spinning to Johnossi "Blood Jungle"

What to do when I fall asleep together with #3 at 19:00 and Elin wakes me up at 22:30 telling me that I still sleep and needs to prepare for bed (after having tried to wake me up twice). Well, I got up and headed down in the basement to do what I had planned this evening anyhow, some alone quality time on the spinning bike. Listened to the latest album by Johnossi “Blood Jungle”. Good one, served the purpose and I might even listen to it several times while working out (did also listen to the album at work today).

Basteheia Rundt 2016

Basteheia Rundt today together with friends and family, nice weather, exhausting and fun. I really enjoy being able to run again after many years with legs not working.
